Spoiler alert! There’ll be a bodykit bonanza at RADWood as we welcome along the Max Power Reunion to Hagerty’s festival of the cars and culture of the Eighties and Ninenties.
Over a dozen cars from the heyday of the best-selling motor magazine will be on show at RADwood on 7 September and the Historic Dockyards at Chatham won’t have seen anything like it before.
One of the highlights of the show’s Star Car area will be a Lamborghini Countach, but the Max Power Reunion section demonstrates what happens when you take Gandini’s genius scissor doors and add them to a humble hatchback such as a MkIV Golf or Fiesta or a lightweight like a Mazda MX-5. There’ll be a throwback to the glory days of the British Touring Car Championship with a road-going interpretation of Alain Menu and Jason Plato’s Williams Renault Laguna, a manga-inspired Micra, and many more.
RADwood will also include a special RAD to the Future exhibit featuring cars from 1984 and their 2024 equivalents. There will be icons of the era such as a Ferrari F40, Porsche 959, and Honda NSX, while a Show N Shine offers entrants the chance to display their RAD cars and win a coveted trophy.
Away from the automobiles on show there’s a record fair, a retro fashion store brought to you by Rokit and a freeplay arcade so you can get your name (well, three initials, anyway) on the leaderboard.
All this takes place in the incredible setting of Chatham Historic Dockyard amongst the submarines and ships, which you can also explore.
A few tickets are still available here – and if you use the code hagerty15 at the checkout you’ll even get a 15 per cent discount on the £25 per car entry price.
