You don’t need a DeLorean to get a glimpse into the future as we can now confirm the lineup for RADwood 2024.
Join us at the Chatham Historic Dockyards in Kent on 7 September for a festival of fabulous cars of the Eighties and Nineties, along with the music, fashion, and entertainment of the time.
Starting with the RAD machines themselves we’ll have four featured areas for our Star Cars, RAD to the Future collection, Show N Shine competition entrants, and other RAD display cars.
On show will include some of the most exotic automobiles of the RADwood era, such as a BMW 850 CSi; a Ferrari F355 and F40 LM; a Honda NSX; a Porsche 959 and 911 Turbo S Leichtbeau; and everyone’s favourite Athena poster car, the Lamborghini Countach.
Check out the RAD to the Future area and you’ll see just how much progress has been made over the years. Side by side you’ll find 1984 classics and their 2024 equivalents, including a pair of Minis, Golf GTis, and Lotus (or should that be Loti?).
The 50 entrants to the Show N Shine will have a dedicated display zone where our judges, Joe Ward from White Goods Racing, and Faye Young, will be checking out your side skirts and three-spokes to pick a winner.
Turn up in any period-correct car and you’ll be able to park with your peers in a further display area.
Dressing up in Eighties or Nineties attire is all part of the fun, but don’t worry if you’ve left your fluoro legwarmers or Sergio Tacchini top at home, as Rokit Vintage will be selling its coolest retro clobber in the main boathouse. There’s an award for the best-dressed guest so start planning your look.
The sounds of the RADwood years will be on sale at a record fair. If you’re looking for that elusive Depeche Mode album on vinyl, a long-lost Men at Work cassette, or the best of BritPop on MiniDisc, then you know where to go.
At the video game arcade you’ll be able to get your initials imortalised on the likes of Outrun and Sega Rally and apply your special moves to finish your opponent in Streetfighter. Better still, you’ll never run out of pound coins, as the games are all set to freeplay!
A General Admission ticket costs £25 per car, or £15 for a motorcycle, which includes entry to the display area if you’re driving something RAD. For £35, you can enter your car in the Show N Shine, but you’ll need to move fast, as just 50 slots are available.
