The Man & Le Mans is now on general release. Steve McQueen

Steve McQueen, The Man & Le Mans

Hagerty recently wrote about Porsche’s first success at Le Mans when Porsche 917-023 was triumphant in 1970 (read it here: Porsche 917 Le Mans).  At the same time the feature film Le Mans was in production, featuring unrivalled footage of a number of Porsche 917s.

The film was a work of passion, conceived and created by Steve McQueen. The film, although now a cult classic, was panned by the critics, and it almost destroyed him.

A new documentary, Steve McQueen, The Man & Le Mans by directors Gabriel Clarke and John McKenna, went on general release in the UK on 20th November.  Check your local cinema listings for showings, or see the trailer here: Steve McQueen Le Mans Trailer.

Gaydon to become The British Motor Museum

The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon will change its name to the British Motor Museum when it reopens on Saturday 13th February.

The new name reflects the ‘Designated’ status of the Museum’s collections and is the first step in a multi-million pound redevelopment to showcase the world’s largest collection of historic British cars.

The Museum is now closed for this major refurbishment, and will re-open, along with the new Collections Centre, on Saturday 13 February 2016. Click here for the new website of the British Motor Museum.
