Over the Easter weekend, Hagerty sponsored Piazza Italia, the classic and supercar event in Horsham, West Sussex. The event spans three days, and each has a distinct theme with a different charity being supported.
First, it was Ferrari Friday. Hagerty joined the Ferrari Owners’ Club at their Sussex meeting in the South Lodge Hotel, where over 100 Ferraris of all ages and their owners met. On show were some lovely classics: a brace of F40s, a Daytona coupe, a lovely Mondial Spider and a lone Testarossa. At 11am, the cars left South Lodge and made their way into Horsham, creating one of the most impressive traffic jams ever seen on Sussex roads! In the town, an estimated 40,000 people turned out to see the cars, which parade through and are then parked up to allow onlookers to view them.
On Saturday, other Italian marques join the Ferraris. Lamborghinis, Alfa Romeos and Lancias joined in the throng. After a break for Easter Day, Monday has a general supercar theme. The highlight was undoubtedly a Bugatti Veyron brought by the organisers of The Warren Classic & Supercar Show, an event also sponsored by Hagerty.
The total raised for charity is yet to be announced, but organisers have told us that they expect an excellent sum to be raised for the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, The Children’s Trust for children with brain injury, and Winston’s Wish, the charity for bereaved children.
