The driver line-up for this autumn’s Goodwood Revival has been announced, and there are legends from every racing discipline imaginable.
From Formula 1, World Champions Sir Jackie Stewart and Jacques Villeneuve lead the charge, but David Brabham, Derek Bell, Jochen Mass, Karun Chandhok, Max Chilton and Jean-Éric Vergne will all be battling for the Grand Prix honours.
Endurance racing is represented by nine drivers with no less than 29 Le Mans wins between them. Nine-times victor Tom “Mr Le Mans” Kristensen will be joined by fellow World Champions André Lotterer, Marcel Fässler, Neel Jani and Romain Dumas. Darren Turner, Emanuele Pirro, Rinaldo Capello and Alex Brundle will also be trading paint at the famous Sussex circuit.
Local fans will be able to cheer on stars from the British Touring Car Championship including Andrew Jordan, Colin Turkington, Gordon Shedden, Matt Neal and Tom Ingram. World Touring Car aces Andy Priaulx and Rob Huff join them.
Switching to two wheels there are riders from the British Superbike Championship, Isle of Man TT, MotoGP, Suzuka 8 Hours and World Superbike Championship. No less than five TT winners will take to the track with all eyes on 23-time winner John McGuinness MBE. 82-year-old Giacomo Agostini, who won 15 World Championships and ten Isle of Man TTs, is also set to don his leathers again.
America’s ovals offer four-time IndyCar champion and triple Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti, and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson.
With such a glorious gathering of drivers it’s no wonder that tickets for Saturday September 7 are already sold out, but Friday and Saturday are still available at the Goodwood website. A full race schedule and entry list will be published soon.
