Images filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office portray two new versions of the biggest Benz in coupe form, suggesting they could well be on sale soon.
The coupe and cabriolet version of the S-Class were axed in 2021 with no plans for further series production. It was a “Tough decision, great cars, I love them. Icons, and if you have one, keep it,” Mercedes Chief Operating Officer Markus Schaefer said at the time.
However, now under the Mythos umbrella, it seems that a limited number of S-Class coupes could be introduced, wearing AMG and Maybach badging.
The images submitted to the EUIPO show the luxury coupe with two different design styles. The AMG version appears to wear the front bumper from an S63, features two-tone bodywork with a silver lower half and black upper. The Afalterbach logos are clearly visible in the renderings. For the Maybach the color scheme is reversed, and it gets a different grille with the Maybach emblem on the hood. More interesting is a striking split rear window that’s reminiscent of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept car from 2018.
To add a bit of mystery to these potential Mythos models the trademark application has actually been submitted by Robu AG of Switzerland, rather than Mercedes-Benz itself. Robu previously filed a trademark for the Bussink GT R SpeedLegend which was later built by Mercedes partner HWA AG. Yet through this tangled web of companies it looks like we could see car that will follow the limited edition Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed as the next Mythos motor.
