Morgan is to stop building its mightiest model, the Plus Six, in 2025, but don’t worry an even more impressive flagship is on the way.

As a suitable send-off 30 Plus Six Pinnacle editions are be to built with a selection of the most “special options” as specified by previous customers. Those include a choice three shades of tan or brown leather upholstery with unique stitching, thick sheepskin carpets, and teak wood trim, inspired by Japanese marquetry. Silver wheels, a racing-style fuel filler cap and new mirrors also feature.

“The cars we create are exhilarating to drive but also offer an escape, providing a comforting, relaxing, and engaging natural environment through the use of high-quality materials,” says Chief Design Officer Jonathan Wells. “This project has enabled us to build upon this. Plus Six Pinnacle represents a truly befitting conclusion to the Plus Six story, and the team and I have greatly enjoyed crafting this special edition to celebrate everything this model stands for.”

Costing £97,000 it’s a hint at Morgan’s future pricing strategy for when the Plus Six is replaced with an all-new brand flagship in 2025. The Malvern motor company is looking to put more distance between the Plus Four and its top model.

So what can we expect? From an engineering perspective the extruded aluminum CX chassis is set to be continued, along with the BMW six-cylinder turbo powertrain – likely boosted to supercar levels of performance.

It’s set to look radically different as well with the Pinnacle “ending a lineage that dates more than 50 years to the beginning of Plus 8 production in 1968,” says Morgan. The car’s styling will move forward, ditching the age-old “wing silhouette”. According to Autocar design boss Wells wants to evolve the vintage look into “the jet age.” The highly-limited Midsummer (below), designed with Pininfarina, gives a good indication of the possible direction with its striking retro-future looks.

All will be revealed next year.
