A unique 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta that was ordered new by Chris Rea is for sale.
The gravel-voiced guitarist was a serious car fan, best-known for his motor music including The Road To Hell, about London’s M25 motorway, Girl In A Sports Car, and Driving Home For Christmas.
Rea specified his F355 in Blu Scuro Micalizzato paintwork with Crema hide and Blu carpets. Selling dealer Bell Sport & Classic in Hertfordshire believes this combination is a genuine one-of-one.
Adding to the Berlinetta’s appeal is the fact that it is an early edition, equipped with 2.7 Motronic management for its 3.5-litre, five-valve-per-cylinder, flat plane crank V8, and its tactile Momo three-spoke steering wheel is airbag-free.
The car has covered less than 1,000 miles a year since Rea bought it and it has just received a thorough mechanical overhaul, polish, and interior treatments.
“The F355 Berlinetta’s game changing technical innovations, higher production volumes and overall bandwidth paved the way for successive Ferrari models to be truly great cars,” says Tim Kearns, Managing Director, Bell Sport & Classic. “One could argue that it’s the most significant car in Ferrari’s history. With almost 30 years to reflect on the car’s impact, the 355 is ready to assume genuine classic status as it reaches this landmark anniversary.”
This car’s provenance and prime condition will mean that its “price on application” will, no doubt, be right at the top of our valuation guides, so if you want to drive it home for Christmas you’ll have to been very good this year.
