I recall the 990 selectomatic tractor coming off the assembly line in Meltham near Huddersfield during the period when I was employed by David Brown (1962 – 1967) in their international sales department when Mr Eisler was the head of that department. As an advocate I also carried out legal work at DB. I was the owner of an Aston Martin at the time but recall its gear box being very problematic indeed. I sold it for that reason and am now very content with my five classic cars dating back from 1955 to 1997.

I worked for David Brown Tractors from 1962-75. My first job was on engine assembly, then I moved to engine test, then to balancing flywheels and crankshaft, and finally inspector on the flywheel production line. David Brown was an excellent boss to work for. My reason for leaving was the “Yanks” had taken over and we knew the factory would eventually close down, and it did in 1988.
